About NICHE
Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, Kumaracoil, Kanyakumari District, TamilNadu, India, prior to its recognition as a University, functioned as Noorul Islam College of Engineering with the familiar acronym, NICE. Within a very short period, NICE distinguished itself as an institution for excellence in Science, Engineering and Management education. In recognition of its achievements and consistent efforts to promote quality technical and management education, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, conferred the “Deemed to be University” status upon the college in 2008, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and Re-accredited by NAAC( Cycle - 2 )
About the Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education is one of the largest and most respected departments in the South India, consistently achieving high ratings for teaching quality and research. It was established during 1995. The department offers B.E. (Mechanical Engineering), M.E. (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), M.E. (Thermal Engineering) and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering [Regular and Part time]. At present, about seventy five research scholars are working towards their Ph.D. degree. The expertise of our staff covers a wide range of specialist areas and our mission is to carry out research in fundamental science through practical industrial applications. The faculty members are grouped under three broad specializations-Design, Manufacturing and Thermal & Fluid Engineering . The academic activities are supported by 24 laboratories. About 380 research papers published from the department in peer reviewed journals. The department also publishes a bi annual National Journal of Emerging Technology in Mechanical Sciences and Engineering.
Professional Associations
Every student admitted in NICHE becomes a member of at least two of the five Professional Associations such as ISTE, CSI, AeSI and IETE at the College Expense.

Students are trained for Summer Projects during summer vacation.
